Crise du SNJT: Le Fédération des Journalistes Africains appelle à des élections libres et démocratiques organisées par un syndicat uni et indépendant

La FAJ appelle à un « congrès unitaire » pour assurer la démocratie interne au sein du Syndicat National des Journalistes Tunisiens
La Fédération des Journalistes Africains (FAJ), l'organisation régionale africaine de la Fédération Internationale des Journalistes (FIJ), a exprimé aujourd'hui l’exigence d'unité et de démocratie pour la confraternité parmi les journalistes en Tunisie.
En raison des querelles internes au sein du syndicat national des journalistes tunisiens (SNJT) qui ont conduit à l’organisation de nouvelles élections pour élire de nouveaux responsables syndicaux des journalistes tunisiens, la FAJ appelle à un congrès unitaire pour renforcer la démocratie interne du syndicat sur la base de l'unité, du pluralisme et de la transparence.
« Nous pensons que l'unité et la solidarité, combinées à la démocratie interne qui renforce l'adhésion des membres sont indispensables pour unir les journalistes tunisiens et augmenter leur force dans le secteur médiatique et dans le pays », a déclaré Omar Faruk Osman, Président de la FAJ.
La FAJ suit avec intérêt l’évolution de la situation en Tunisie. Après la démission d’une bonne partie des membres du bureau exécutif, le syndicat doit organiser des élections anticipées selon ses statuts. La FAJ a été informée que deux dates différentes ont été prises pour le congrès du syndicat.
« Même si nous sommes d’accord que la seule solution de sortie de crise est le respect des statuts par l’organisation d’élections anticipées, la seule manière de défendre les droits et intérêts des journalistes tunisiens est de favoriser des élections libres et démocratiques organisées par un syndicat uni et indépendant» a ajouté Omar Faruk.

FAJ Calls for “Unity Congress” to Ensure Internal Democracy of National Syndicate of Tunisian Journalists
The Federation of African Journalists (FAJ), the African Regional Organisation of the International Federation of Journalists, has today expressed the need for unity and democracy among journalists fraternity in Tunisia.
Due to recent leadership squabbles within the National Syndicate of Tunisian Journalists (SNJT) and the need of fresh elections for national leaders of Tunisian journalists, the FAJ calls for unity congress to strengthen the internal democracy of the syndicate on the basis of unity, pluralism and transparency.
“We feel that unity and solidarity, combined with internal democracy that empowers the membership are essential to unite Tunisian journalists and increase their strength in the media industry and the country”, said Omar Faruk Osman, FAJ President.
FAJ has been following with concern the developments in Tunisia. Following resignations of members of the executive committee, the syndicate has to go for general elections, according to its constitution. FAJ has learned that two different dates were set for the congress of the syndicate.
“While we fully understand that the only way out of the crisis is to respect the constitution of the syndicate and to go for fresh elections, we insist on the holding of unified, free and democratic general elections for the syndicate as the only way to ensure independent, united and democratic syndicate that defends the rights and interests of Tunisian journalists” Omar Faruk added.
